About Ience
Technology with room for conversation.
I'm Jun Sakurai, founder of IENCE LLC, based in Eugene, Oregon. I'm building Roslein, an AI phone companion for older adults.
Why I started
My mother and I used to talk by phone across 4,800 miles. Those calls stayed with me, especially the everyday conversations that were difficult to recreate from a distance.
That experience led me to build Roslein: a way to make a little more room for ordinary conversation through a familiar phone call.

Respect the person
Participation is a choice. Roslein should be easy to understand, comfortable to use, and easy to stop.
Be clear about AI
Roslein is an AI companion. It supplements human connection and does not replace family, friends, caregivers, or professional services.
Treat conversations with care
Privacy and participant consent are part of the design, including clear boundaries around family summaries.
Building, listening, and learning
Ience is seeking community organizations interested in exploring a small, no-cost Roslein pilot. The focus is on participant choice, practical feedback, and understanding where additional conversation is welcome.
I work directly with prospective partners on fit, pilot arrangements, and questions. I also write about the experiences that shape Roslein, including conversation, privacy, and trust.
